C44300 Admiralty Brass
C44300 is a copper-zinc-tin ternary-single-phase brass with tiny levels of arsenic, which can suppress dezincification corrosion and improve the alloy's corrosion resistance. C44300 is a common tin-plated brass. Copper, zinc, and tin are the primary alloy components. It is well-known for its great machinability, high strength, and exceptional corrosion resistance. C44300 has good mechanical qualities and is used to manufacture heat exchangers and conduits that are in contact with corrosive liquids. It is particularly used in inland thermal power plants for the fabrication of high-strength, corrosion-resistant heat exchanger condenser tubes.
Tin brass, often known as admiralty brass, is corrosion-resistant in both fresh and salt water. The general admiralty brass has 1% tin; too much tin reduces the alloy's ductility. Admiralty brass is classified into two types based on its tin content: α admiralty brass and (α+β) admiralty brass. α-single-phase admiralty brass, such as 70Cu-29Zn-1Sn, has high mechanical properties, with a soft state tensile strength of 350 MPa, an elongation of 60%, outstanding cold working performance, and the ability to endure hot rolling and hot extrusion but not hot bending. Punching and hot forging are commonly employed in the manufacture of high-strength, corrosion-resistant condenser pipes for ships and thermal power plants. Because this alloy is prone to stress corrosion cracking, cold-worked pipes must be annealed at a low temperature to remove tension. (α+β) Admiralty brass, such as 62Cu-37Zn-1Sn, has good mechanical qualities, with a soft-state tensile strength of 380 MPa and an elongation of 40%. It is easy to cut and weld, and it may be processed under cold and hot pressure. Excellent corrosion resistance in seawater makes it suitable for ship parts and parts in contact with seawater, gasoline, etc.
